Today Mr.Schick wasn't here because he's at a wedding. He did leave us a TED video on population pyramids though and some questions.
1)According to the Population Reference Bureau's "2013 World Population Data Sheet", 271 are born every minute, and 106 die every minute. That's a global net population increase of 165 per minute. This lesson was published on May 5th. What's the estimated global population increase exactly one week later (May 12th)?
(A) over 10 million
2) As a country slows in population growth, its pyramid shape will A: become wider at the base and narrower at the top
(D) Become more rectangular
3) What does a Population Pyramid NOT give you information about?
(C) Life expectancy
4) Which continent would have the most fast-growth pyramids?
(A) Africa
So far there have been 300,000 births today
and 135,685 deaths. By the next second or so this will be outdated sadly.

Today in the wacky adventures of The geo that is human
Today Mr.Schick informed us that he would not be in school monday because he was heading to a wedding. In the middle of class he franticly scrambled to reserve seats and had an alarm going of every 10 or so minuets. We had to share information on a country of our choice. The country i chose was Germany. There population is very slowly decreasing. All of the fresh water in Germany is clean and considered drinkable. The male life expectancy is 78 and the female life expectancy is 82. They are a very developed nation but don't have a large enough workforce so people from turkey are coming to fill those jobs. The turks that move in are building temples of there religion causing lots of conflict between the germans and the turks.

Today in the splendid adventures of thursdays human geo
Today we continued going over world population things. We learned the worlds birth rate is 2.1 children per couple. The reason it is 2.1 is not because people are having .1 of a child but because some couples are having 3-4 children and some are having only one child. There was a shadow today named Ryan and Mr.Schick was like Reece are you crying? And are you Ryan to the shadow. I kinda felt bad for him having to sit through our class......... Anyways it was very fun and interesting as usual Mr.Schick also finished handing out quizzes and i got an 80 something I believe. Overall it was a good day and i can't believe were already a month deep into the school year.

Today In Human Geo
We took a test..... Mr.Schick you want us to criticize it so here I go. I think the test wasn't hard but it wasn't easy. It was a very fair test and I liked it. And that random t or f question was funny.

Today in the splendid adventures of human geo
Today was very long in human geo. It was kinda dry and boring a bit insipid but interesting. We talked about globalization which is the interconnection between nations culturally politically and economically. We saw some pictures that really emphasized that concept. Over in japan american fast food is really popular but is having a major impact on there health and culture. In Africa they are not very connected to the outside world and western influence. In north Korea they completely shut them selves out from the outside world which has had a bad affect on them. We also talked about Americanization which is the spread of american things to Asia Europe and that part of the world. Mr. Schick brought up some great points on all of that stuff which really helped me understand it all.

Today in human geo
Today in human geo we got new seats. A lot of us didn't like those seats so we voted on it like it was the greek agora. Many people brought up great points including myself Nate and Johnathan. Although i got yelled at by like half the class we still won. After the discussion we had to come up with an agreement. In the end we got to choose seats of our choice. At the end of class Mr.Schick said that he originally planned to let us vote then completely override us but i think we swayed him way to much. I ended up grabbing a seat in the corner where i wouldn't be bothered. Thank you Mr. Schick for letting us decide.

Ancient Greek Definitions
Todays blog assignment consists of ancient greek vocab.
Agora- in ancient Greece a public open space used for assemblies and markets
Arete- It means excellence of any kind or Moral virtue
Polis- the ancient Greeks did not always refer to Athens, Sparta, Thebes, and other poleis as such; they often spoke instead of the Athenians, Lacedaemonians, Thebans and so on. The body of citizens came to be the most important meaning of the term polis in ancient Greece as a polis.
The year 508 bc- cleisthenise grants full rights to all men throughout athens. And democracy started in athens
Socrates- was an athenian philosopher credited as one of the founders of western philosophy. He is an enigmatic figure known chiefly through the accounts of classical writers, especially the writings of his students plato and xenophen.
The death of Socrates-The Death of Socrates is a 1787 oil on canvas painting by the French painter Jacques-Louis David.
The Socratic method-is a form of inquiry and discussion between individuals, based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to illuminate ideas.
What did the greeks mean if they called you and idiot-person, or someone who acts in a self-defeating or significantly counterproductive way.
My sources are wikipedia and google dictionary.
